Communicating with clients is important for businesses of all sizes. Where large businesses have an advantage over small businesses is the ability to hire more people and connect faster to the client’s needs. Technology has leveled the playing field in many cases with virtual phone numbers, automated attendants, email, and, of course, classic voice mail. But in today’s business climate Expecting a client to leave your website to make a phone call is not a great idea. Equally bad is asking a client to fill out an email form to get in touch with you. What can a business do to create a high-touch first-contact scenario?

When asking this question I began to think about how I communicate now. My cell phone is my primary phone but I don’t want clients having my personal number. I could use Google Voice but this still would send them to voice mail. Adding text messaging capabilities is not the most cost-efficient method of allowing better communication from the website. Then I had a thought. What if I could bring the power of Facebook Messenger to my website?

There are some basic WordPress plugins that add Messenger functionality. However, I wanted more than a direct line to my phone. As I looked I found a solution with the capabilities I need plus the ability to handle basic questions without personally having to respond to each message. The solution I found was Mobile Monkey.

Mobile Monkey is a Facebook Messenger service with a twist. The service also integrates AI bots which, once programmed, have the ability to hold conversations with a prospective client and answer frequently asked questions. There are many options available once you create an account on the Mobile Monkey server.

Creating an account is as easy as clicking the sign in using the Facebook button. This creates a link between the server and your business Facebook page. With this link, Mobile Monkey can now route inquiries from your website into the AI and later to you. Best of all, since the conversations take place in Messenger, they are saved for reference!

Take a look at the image below. It is of the Mobile Monkey account screen. Examine the options available. The AI can do as much or as little as you program it to do.

In this second screen you see the basic tools for programming your AI bot. Be sure and read the help documents and plan out the questions and answers for you not to use.

There are many more options available such as having multiple bots so that each one can serve a different purpose on your WordPress site. While setting this system up properly will take a little time, think of the hours of time it will free up later. I am very excited to begin implementing this on the Elkhound Technologies website.

Next week follow along as the hot comes alive… well as alive as a chat not can!

Until then, check out the Mobile Monkey website. Go ahead and sign up for the free level of service and then come back and follow along. I will show you how to create and program your first bot, install the plugin to your site, and bring your creation to life.
